Developing Your Character
As we mature in our devotion to God, it becomes increasingly clear that God is interested in maturing us into the person He created us to be. However, we never successfully mature in isolation. Just as a child needs love, nurturing and tending to by his parents in order to develop physically into a strong, healthy adult, so we too need the help of others in order to continue developing into healthy, godly people. The old adage that “God is more concerned about your character than your comfort” is really true. Most of us recognize that God often chisels away at our character by placing folks in our lives who challenge us or who are challenging for us to be around! We believe that God uses broken, imperfect relationships as the raw material to shape us into the kind of person He wants us to be. Small groups provide a great place for God to sculpt our souls into the kind of person that God would have us become.
