Me Lead? Yeah, right. . .
These words are often our first thoughts that go through our mind when we think about leadership. After all, even Moses, one of the greatest leaders of all time thought this way at first. Fear is one of the greatest obstacles to would-be leaders. Focusing on fear instead of faith often keeps us from becoming what God has destined us to become.
Most of us never feel “ready” to lead. But experience has shown that there are three burdens that all potential small group leaders share. So if you’re wondering whether to step into the small group leader’s arena, ask yourself the following questions?
1. Am I passionate about my personal growth in Christ?
2. Am I a champion of community?
3. Am I intentional about building and bridging safe, meaningful christ-centered relationships with others?
Well, how did you do? If these three qualities resonate with your soul, chances are that you have the internal makeup of a small group leader. This means you’re in good company. Jesus was a small group leader. He recognized the importance of journeying towards God with a small community that shared common hearts and common goals. In fact, the world was transformed through the unleashing of the love, commitment and mission of that small group. God is still looking today for pockets of people committed to His plan and purposes to further His kingdom. If God has given you a natural longing to journey with others towards God, take a step of faith and contact Heath Davis about joining the team!
